Essay on Parenting Styles - 1429 Words
Parenting is defined as rearing of a child by giving special care, love, and guidance by a parent. (Merriam-Webster) Parenting usually starts when a couple has a beautiful by-product of their mutual love and respect with each other. When a child comes into someones life, parenting is usually a necessity when it comes to nurturing a beautiful, and a healthy child. A lot of responsibilities, sacrifices, and hard work are attached to parenting. There are four parenting styles that couples practices. According to Psychologists, the four parenting styles are the following: Authoritarian Parenting, Authoritative Parenting, Permissive Parenting, and Uninvolved parenting. This one particular mother and child has caught my attention. They seem to be a part of the low-class community with Spanish descent. Her child, whose around 8 years old, grabbed a lot of chocolates, and sweets and immediately dropped it to her momââ¬â¢s tiny grocery basket. The mom dropped the basket, and was scolding her son by saying they cannot afford it and the child threw a temper tantrums and started crying. He was crying continuously, and his mom end up spanking him on his behind as an emphasis that they c annot afford extra luxury like that. The second place I went to was in Ridgedale mall in Minnetonka. A higher white middle-class family was in the mall shopping with their 13-years-old daughter in Abercrombie and Fitch. Their daughter is asking how much she could buy and they didnââ¬â¢t give her an exact limit. As a result, this young teenage girl was very happy and ecstatic about her shopping spree with her fortunate parents. The next place I observed was McDonalds. What better way to find children and parents observation but the ââ¬Å"famousâ⬠fast-food place? Low-middle class African family consist of 4 members are having dinner at McDonalds, while waiting for their order, their son whose-around 9-years-old wants to drink his soda.
